A tune I wrote many years ago for my friend, Tom Hoban, AKA The HipHappy Professor.
I am happy and fortunate o have these fine players with me on this laid back (read 'lose') attempt with some of the best young musicians in the country... Fiddler extraordinaire, Sam Stage and the highly remarkable, Jake Sheffield. These fellas are young, Jake is 18 and just graduated from highschool, while Sam is on his third year at the Berkley School of Music
music in the fair city of Boston, Mass. Youngsters, yet, they are both old souls. Their musical maturity level is disproportionally elevated in light of their actual chronological age. And most importantly, their focus is on the music and not on themselves. Always humble and encouraging and just a joy to be around. Although I could be their grandfather, I hardly ever think about the age differences. I feel we are kindred spirits. I can't say enough good things about them. Sam and Jake both, have been very encouraging to my younger students like the Ferranti Brothers and David Strickland over the years. These kids are really looking up to Sam and Jake who is the lead singer and guitar player for the powerful Tennessee Bluegrass Band.
