I got my old Simprop Solution XL going again after a while away from the slopes and it's nearly back to its former glory. In celebration I thought I'd do a quick video to share. Lift was fairly patchy and the wind was pretty light at only 8-10 mph, so it was a bit of a struggle to get the glider much higher for any aerobatics.
This was its second outing in recent times of the Solution, the first being from a nearby slope at Frocester Hill in late April which was its new 'maiden' flight after about 15 years in storage.
The Solution XL is a 4m sailplane from Simprop. This particular version is running 6 channels for elevator, rudder, ailerons, flaps, crow brakes (butterfly) and flaperons. It could really do with spoilers (air brakes) to help maintain roll control on descent. I've been finding that roll control suffers a lot when the crow braking is in full effect. More programming required I think.
I use a Futaba 18SZ as my main transmitter which is a fantastic radio and allows for lots of interesting mixing for flight controls.
