With General Motors owning both Vauxhall and Lotus at the time, Lotus were tasked with levelling up Vauxhall's flagship GSI Carlton - and they didn’t hold back - creating the worlds fastest four door saloon - the Vauxhall Lotus Carlton - and selling it for £48,000 on release in 1990.
