The clouser minnow is one of those flies that likely nearly, if not every fly angler will have heard of. And, most of you will have fished it too. Simply put, the clouser minnow is without question one of the most effective flies ever designed. That remains true today as it's popularity is steadfast. This pattern can be tied in any conceivable color combination you want, but in this video we're tying it in one of its most classic color combinations: chartreuse and white. This can be used to catch just about any species under the sun, from smallmouth and largemouth bass, to bonefish, striped bass and salmon. All you need to do is modify the size, color and weight to suit the fish you're targeting.
In this Fly Tying tutorial, Fulling Mill Technical Manager Steve Carew will teach you think like tricks for attaching dumbbell eyes, how to handle bucktail and how to properly taper the head on your fly. To purchase the materials needed to tie this fly, you can find them all here:
If you'd like to tie this yourself, you can find all of the materials here on our website.
