What is a FAK?

FAK = First Aid Kit

I-FAK = Individual First Aid Kit

Some important points to consider about my LEVEL-II FAK

-This is not an end-all kit, rather my current thought process on a kit with adequate depth of medical capabilities for a group operating in a remote environment given certain size & weight constraints

-This kit is intended for providing care for my family members & close friends . . . I am not out there trying to find people to treat

-Sterile vs Clean Concept

-Wear gloves!

-Vacuum bagging decreases bulk, increases durability of supplies and provides an indication of what needs to be replaced

-Eliminate liquids which always seem to leak

-Best way to clean a wound is copious amounts of fresh water . . . chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide & betadine are generally not needed (see prior video content)

-Dont get all caught up in the different gauze pads . . . they are all variants on the same theme with catchy names

-Kit includes OPTIONS . . . cyanoacrylate glue, QuickClot, sutures & prescription medications . . . OTC medications for that matter. Pick and choose based on YOUR needs and comfort level

-Please no hallway monitors or armchair experts . . . I feel comfortable with the kit and its capabilities given the stated POU
