What was Denmark’s role in the northern crusades and what impact did it have on medieval history?
The danish conquests against the remaining pagan powers in northern Europe is an important, yet often unknown part of the history of the northern crusades. This part in danish history is where Denmark, in just a couple generations, was transformed from a disorganized backwater plagued by civil war to a major medieval great power in northern Europe.
