This sonata is a milestone on its own, certainly due to its unique structure and the unusual first movement with the theme and variations, similar to Mozart's sonata KV331.
Moreover, the theme of the first movement could very well have influenced Schubert when he composed his Impromptu D935 n.2 and in the second movement of his sonata in C minor.
The funeral march is also a true piece of art, the tempo Czerny gives suites perfectly the movement of the slow march (maybe that could also be applied to Chopin's one?).
