The summer is in full swing and it's utterly beautiful. We started composting from the moment we've arrived (2 months ago), so now it's the right time to finally build a proper composting area. The place we've chosen is on the verge of forest - closer to the garden, it is a little on the sun and a little in the shade through the whole day. In Scotland, we've composted a lot, but it took about a year for our compost (grass, food scrubs, paper) to become anything slightly closer to what you can see on this video :)
We had a beautiful walk up to the local mountains, this is about 1800 m high plateau, which is full of stunning views, lizards (apparently wolves - hence the bells on the cows!), medicinal plants, eagles & maybe snakes (hence the stick in my hand as we are walking/running in vivo barefoot - five fingers for about 10 years now). We love medicinal plants and have been using them from our youth. The improvement/upgrade coming with this location and the house is that we have them growing all around our house and to my surprise, they can be picked even in November! I used to dry medicinal plants like maniac through the spring/summer to have some collected for winter, but it seems like if you live in good place, it is possible to have them almost all year around! Which is very impressive, thank you nature :)
