5 Love Languages Quiz

The 5 Love Languages is a theory by Dr. Gary Chapman, author and marriage counselor. According to Chapman, there are 5 universal languages of love. Individual prioritize love languages differently. How you prioritize them determine how you show and want to be shown love.

Dr. Chapman has created a test online that configures which love language is important to you. In this episode of Psych Discussions, my cousin and I take the 5 love languages quiz in order to determine what our love languages are.

According to Dr. Gary Chapman, an individual tends to lean toward 1 or 2 love languages and ranks them as most important to them. These love languages are:

1. Words of Affirmation: "Verbal compliments, or words of appreciation, are powerful communicators of love. They are best expressed in simple, straightforward statements of affirmation"

2. Quality Time: "For some people spending time with loved ones is their preferred love language. Whether it be a quiet lunch or an afternoon walk, spending quality time and being the focus of their undivided attention leaves them feeling satisfied and comforted more than words"

3. Receiving Gifts: "Not all people who enjoy receiving gifts are "materialistic" this just means that for these individuals love is equated with a tangible gift. "

4. Acts of Service: "These individuals want their partners to notice that their own responsibilities are grand and sometimes daunting and that a helping-hand every once-an-a-while shows love and care."

5. Physical Touch: "everyday physical connections, like handholding, kissing, pats on the back, and any type of re-affirming physical contact."
