Break From Your Chains

I always attempted to view the beautiful colors
In people who were painted black and white,
I always attempted to oversee their true intentions,
Because I was afraid of being alone, I believed I
Could save everyone from themselves,
The ones who were too afraid to seek change,
But I realized that I can’t change anyone
Who does not recognize what needs to be changed

I almost died trying to save someone who did not
Want to be saved, I was drowned in blood and fear
By the same hands I provided care for,
My heart and kindness were devoured by hungry
Sharks, I was too weak to swim back to shore,
The cold, lonely darkness swallowed me whole

I was attempting to save the wrong people, because I
Believed it was my role, to offer my heart away in hope of
Receiving salvation, to be cleansed away from my mistakes,
I wanted to be set free of all my regrets and mistakes,
I wanted to be saved from my darkness, but there is no
Salvation without accepting one's imperfections

We are our saviors, no one else, no item, no money can
Save you from your past mistakes, you must choose
To learn from your faults as lessons to evolve from
And move forward with grace, break from your chains
Of the past and connect to your color of beauty
