RØDE Stereo Videomic Pro vs. Shure MV88

Here, the RØDE Stereo Videomic Pro is compared to the Shure MV88 when recording live music. On the surface, this comparison may seem silly because the mics are not interchangeable. There are times, however, when I prefer the convenience of using my phone over the flexibility of using a mirrorless or DSLR camera, or vice versa, and I wanted to check the tradeoffs in audio quality. The RØDE audio was recorded with a Panasonic Lumix FZ300, and the Shure audio was recorded with an iPhone 11 Pro. To the extent possible, I tried to keep the settings the same, but there is no way to tell whether the audio differences are due to the different mics or the different cameras. Nevertheless, this comparison does indicate the audio tradeoffs when opting for one approach or the other.
