Join us on a scenic walking tour through the charming town of Blairgowrie and Rattray, right in the heart of Perthshire, Scotland! Today, we're exploring historic streets, stunning architecture, and some legendary local spots that make this town so special.
We start at Wellmeadow, the town’s beating heart, where the Blairgowrie & Rattray War Memorial stands tall—a moving tribute to the 175 local heroes who gave their lives during World War I. This impressive monument, sculpted by Alexander Carrick, has stood here since 1921 as a powerful reminder of the past.
From here, we’ll wander through Wellmeadow Street, packed with small businesses, cozy cafés, bakeries, hotels, pubs, and even a classic Scottish wool shop. If you love that quaint village vibe, this is the place for you! A quick detour up Allan Street reveals stunning Scottish stone buildings (none of that English red brick here! ).
Along the way, we'll visit Blairgowrie Parish Church, a historic landmark dating back to 1824, before making our way up Kirk Wynd Street to reach the town’s best panoramic views. Perched at the top, we find Hill Kirk, a historic church dedicated to Sir William MacPherson, one of the town’s most respected figures.
