The .44 Special is often thought of as a perfect comparison to the .45 ACP because both have similar bullet weights, similar bullet diameter and similar velocity and energy. Today I am testing the Buffalo Bore lead free ammunition in .44 Special and .45 ACP loaded with Barnes bullets. The .44 Special is a 200 gr copper hollow point rated at 1,070 FPS from a 4" barrel and the .45 ACP is a +P 185 gr copper hollow point rated at 1,178 and 1,198 FPS from 5" barrels.
