In Participatory Action Research (PAR), photo-elicitation and photo voice are powerful tools to let people speak their minds through pictures. Sometimes it can be hard for participants to sit in front of an interviewer who looks them in the eyes and asks questions. Talking about a picture can then put them at ease, as it literally drags the attention away from them, towards the picture you are discussing. In this video I show you how you can integrate photo-elicitation and photovoice in PAR, giving you an example from the field, in Kampala, Uganda.
