A peaceful golden hour walk on the pine forested path across Amanohashidate and its sandy beaches with a beautiful sunset. Amanohashidate is a sandbar in Miyazu Bay on the Sea of Japan, in northern Kyoto Prefecture. It is one of Japan's three scenic views known as Nihon Sankei (日本三景). We start walking along the canal toward Chionji Temple and Kaisen Bridge. It is late in the day, but there are still a few people out enjoying the waterfront and pre-sunset atmosphere. From there we head out across the sandbar, weaving in and out from the forest path to the beach and back. The sunset color in the sky becomes spectacular, and combined with the small lapping waves made for a very relaxing walk. I hope you enjoy it wherever you are.
