On the occasion of the International Day of Human Space Flight, a memorial plaque dedicated to legendary cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and other Russian space pioneers was unveiled at the Russian House in New Delhi.
The event was attended by Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov and cosmonaut Denis Matveev, who flew in especially from Russia for the ceremony.
The plaque was designed by Alexei Leonov, the first man to walk in space in 1965. The tribute highlights the long legacy of Russian achievements in space and aims to inspire future generations to explore the cosmos.
April 12 marks the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic 1961 journey, when he became the first human to travel to space under the Soviet space programme.
