The Artificial Intelligence Program of the University of the Philippines Diliman is the first and only doctoral program in AI in the country. As such, UP is leading efforts to formulate guidelines for responsible AI use, ensuring that innovation remains anchored in ethics, equity, and public good.

Students here don’t just train machines. They train themselves to think critically about the social and human impact of technology. Whether developing new diagnostic systems for healthcare, scanning oceans for biodiversity, or improving tools for education, research in UP’s AI program is guided by one principle: technology should serve humanity.

The program welcomes both master’s degree holders and undergraduates from related fields through the Master of Engineering–PhD (Straight) option, allowing students to earn both a master’s and doctorate in one continuous track.
