The fish market at Mapusa is tucked at the far east corner of the Mapusa Municipal Market. Rows of fishermen line up along the main entrance with baskets loaded with the freshest of seafood variety. Each morning the trawlers bring in tonnes of fish; mackerels, prawns, lobsters, crabs and much more. Facilities provided by the market for local vendors include refrigeration and preservation storehouses, rapid and easier modes of transport, and also licensed cubicles. With reasonable prices, not much of bargaining is needed. Over the years, the market has gone on to become a major tourist attraction and has significantly contributed towards the trade and tourism industry in Goa.
