The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was initiated as a technical service unit in early 1980s. The unit was then developed into a MIPA Program in 1987, then transformed into faculty since 1993 according to the Decree of the Indonesia Ministry of Education and Culture No. 0371/0/1993.
Since 2024, The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has received new students from all departments and study programs with more than 1,000 students/year.
The Department of Chemistry was established in 1987 with only one study program, Bachelor of Chemistry. In 2005, Master of Chemistry program was initiated and then in 2016 the Doctor of Chemistry program was opened.
