Vickie Brubaker, an Eagle Scout from Troop 1228G in Douglasville, Ga., elicited a few tears when she sang the Star-Spangled Banner for a room of previously stoic Scouting veterans. Her performance opened the Americanism Breakfast at the 2023 National Annual Meeting of the Boy Scouts of America in Atlanta, Ga.
Monty Gibson, strength and conditioning coach for the Cleveland Browns, was the keynote speaker at the breakfast. After hearing Vickie sing the anthem, he said, "Girl, go chase that dream. Eagle, soar! That was awesome.”
