Well my father went for another trip after herring and sprats. He only shot a single fleet of 2 1/4 inch monofilament herring drift nets for the last hour of the flood tide, and a sprat seine net. The tide was very weak, only a 2.43m tide, and a high pressure of 1022mb. There wasnt a huge amount of fish, but he said it was nice just to be out there and get another trip in. A bad days fishing, is better than a good day at work! There was quite a few anglers on the beach. I had a quick chat, and they were getting a fair amount of weed, but winding in some of the best dabs Ive seen in years. Lovely plump, clean dabs, not a green mark on them, it was really nice to see. Also they were catching the usual pin whiting, all the quality whiting seem to have moved off now.
