We got cigar boxes for cheap and his is a quick and creative way to personalize them with a technique called fractal burning or Lichtenberg fractal etching. It can be dangerous but the results are random and etch the wood with beautiful lightning patterns.
The process involves removing the finish, coating the box in a solution, burning the box, and finishing with a stain and sealant.
