It gets really cold here in Canada and sometimes when it's in the negative 20's deg C the goats get really cold. I have spent 10+ years modifying and perfecting my goat coats. Here is how I make them. I hope it helps inspire you. Please know they only wear the coats when it is below negative 20 deg C and only if they are shivering.
