Louisbourg Fortress - You MUST see Nova Scotia's glorious beauty

Eight weeks in to our huge tour of Canada in our self built Mercedes Sprinter camper van and we're back on Cape Breton after spending two weeks exploring Newfoundland.

This week we're exploring Louisbourg Fortress, an C18th fortress that was once one of the most important in North America. It was destroyed in battles and abandoned for 200 years before a restoration programme in the 1980s brought it back to its current glory.

Then we travelled further across Cape Breton and crossed over to the Nova Scotia mainland to continue our adventure.

We're Sarah and Ben, are a couple from the UK that have been travelling for many years. In 2020, when the world went crazy, we bought an empty Mercedes Sprinter van and started converting it into a fabulous home on wheels. Now, we have toured all round Europe, from the southern tip of Portugal, the easternmost shores of Bulgaria and the northernmost tip of Norway, over 300 miles into the Arctic.

To explore even more of this fabulous world, we have shipped our van over to Canada and we are embarking on an epic adventure that may eventually end in Ushuaia, the most southerly place it is possible to drive to. If we last that long.
