Aka: Variationen über "Ich war Jüngling noch an Jahren". The variations are based on a theme from the opera "Joseph en Égypte" by Étienne Nicolas Méhul.
Written sometime between 1818-1825, most likely closer to 1825. I don't have much information about this piece but Clara (Wieck) Schumann performed this piece a lot in her early days as a concert pianist. Between 1829-1838 it was in fact the piece she performed most often.

Her husband Robert Schumann apparently also performed this piece in 1825, among many other of Herz's variations up until 1832 when he did a u-turn grew bitterly tired of "Parisian virtuosity" to the point he was about to write a piece called "Fantasie satyrique nach Henri Herz".
