Make Southern Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey and Smoke Pork Necks, using this awesome and easy recipe.
Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey and Smoked Pork Necks
Ingredients:
•I used (2) 2lbs bags of collards
•1 whole yellow onion chopped
•1 stick salted butter
•3 tablespoons minced garlic
•1 pack smoked turkey wings
•1 pack smoked meaty pork necks
•2 containers of chicken broth
•Red pepper flakes (optional)
•2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
•1 tablespoon old bay seasoning
•2 tablespoon brown sugar (you can use white sugar as well).
•2 tablespoon Knorr's Chicken Flavoring (i used this in the video but failed to mention it).
•1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
Direction:
1. Add all ingredients to a large stock pot (don't add the collards and Cajun seasoning to the pot)
2. Cook for 1 hour, remove meat from the turkey bones, leave pork necks whole, set aside.
3. Clean and wash your bagged collard greens...add greens to the pot along with cajun seasoning. Cook for 1 1/2 hours or until your greens are tender. Taste to see if more salt is needed. Always add salt at the end. You don't want SALTY GREEN.
NOTE:
Cook some fatback meat and add the grease to your leftover over greens. This will definitely give you grandma vibes. Use a freezer bag to keep and cook your greens for later meals.
