The inverse parallelogram mechanism is equivalent to an elliptical gear.
The ellipse has a major axis equal to b and a minor axis equal to √(b² − a²).
Here, a denotes the crank length, while b represents the coupler link length.
The foci of the ellipse coincide with the centers of rotation of the crank joints.
