This Super Lectric fan has its original paint and is in pristine working condition, it looks brand new! Electric fans of the 1970's had many metal components, however the use of plastic that had started a decade earlier was very much present. In was in this the 1070s that plastic blades become commonplace on fans. This unit has a beautiful, transparent plastic aquamarine blade that generates a pleasant and calming hum. The sound reminds me of the engine on an ultra lite aircraft. The sound produced is gentle, uncomplicated and neither forceful nor loud, like a lullaby. It is very easy to listen to and ideal to help you fall asleep. The occasional gear grind sound is the oscillating switch which is always in motion even when the fan is not set to oscillate. The timing and steady rhythm of the gear grind is similar to the pattern of human breathing during sleep.
