Inspired by the melodic 80s rock training montages of the Rocky movies, from the likes of “Eye of the Tiger” and "Burning Heart” by Survivor, or “Hearts on Fire” from Rocky IV, “The Flame Within” is an original song that is all about drive, grit, and pushing past one’s own limits— the moment when the fire inside takes over.

From a very young age, I was touched by the story of Rocky. The perseverance to keep pushing forward even when life knocks you down is something that has always resonated deeply with me. To feel like my world is falling apart, but having that inner flame, that Eye of the Tiger that keeps me going is something special and, as long as the spark is alive, there is always hope that things will get better.

To be honest, I’ve been feeling down for quite some time. In doubt of where I’m going and whether my efforts are in vain or will pay off. Whether I will be able to achieve my dreams someday, or will my life be a waste? If there’s something good that has come from these dark times in my life, is the music that I composed to express those feelings and create something beautiful from something so painful.

The soundtrack from the Rocky movies never fail to inspire me, to motivate me to keep going through every rep, every drop of sweat, and every yearning breath. I wanted to compose my own motivational song to inspire myself and others, as well as to remind me that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I wrote the first part of this song a few years ago to promote my other brand Rebel Discord, and knew it had a lot of potential to be completed someday. Instead of overthinking it, I let the song flow and develop naturally. I did struggle with the chorus, as I had written a melody that was in the wrong scale, so I had to compose a new one at 4am the night before it was supposed to be released, and also stayed until 5am perfecting every shot and sound, especially the training shots. But in the end, it was worth it and living up to the meaning of the song— I pushed through.

To give a tribute to my younger self, i put some takes of when I was in my best shape right in 2020 when chaos erupted around the world. It was a challenge from the High Thumos group to train at home when everything was closed. I look at that younger version and remember the fire I had to achieve great things and make a difference in this world. Those dreams, are still alive. I owe it to him. Special thanks to my brother who trained with me and recorded those training videos for me back then. They were supposed to be for a cover but I ended up not using them, until today.
