The Delta 12 1/2 inch portable planer, model 22-560, was one of several very similar models sold by the company. It was so popular that other companies copied the design to produce similar thickness planers. My planer recently stopped working, so it was time to disassemble it and find out what fix was needed.
I found a significant but repairable issue with the drive belt and pulley, but I also took the time to check, clean and lubricate the feed rollers, the gears in the transmission, and the chain drives. In this video I'll demonstrate how to take apart major components and even how to fabricate a replacement drive belt cover.
