This was my recent experimental project where I took two single-plane Arrow 2 satellite antennas and converted them to two circularly polarized satellite antennas by moving all the 70 cm elements to one boom, and all the 2 mtr elements to the other boom in a cross X configuration. I added phasing harnesses to each of the two antennas with 90 degree offset to create the circular polarization effect. The basic Arrow 2 Low Earth Orbit antennas are now $132 on the Arrow website, which means that the pair of these antennas cost only $264, plus a little bit of coax for the phasing harnesses. Watch the video to see the results.
There are many resources on line that describe the dimensions and construction of the phasing harnesses, but I found the article, "ISS Minimalist Antenna", to spell it out fairly well. This item is on the ARRL website at the link: https://www.arrl.org/files/file/ETP/I...
