In this episode from our SINGLE STOREY EXTENSION - INSTALLING STEEL RIDGE BEAM, we're bringing you a bumper video covering the roof construction. Firstly though Alex does a bit of wall demolition and Joe makes it his mission to neatly stack all of the g deck scaffold and says why he is a fan of wonder grip aqua gloves. Through this video we continue to show you flat roof construction and Joe and Ollie noggin roof timbers. Tony gets on with the main roof structure and explains his birds mouth cut and plumb cut with his template. Temporary roof rafters are put in place to determine exactly where the ridge steel will come so that pad stone installation can be done.Using a beam lift the ridge steel is put in place and is then ready for roof rafters. John shows you how to drill structural steel with the mag drill in order to fix the gable end steel in place. He also shows you how to prevent rust on steel by using red oxide paint. Tony makes another jig for the tongue and groove sofit for finishing detail on the flat roof structure. Pete is busy cutting insulation ready for insulating between roof rafters. Then will makes his appearance to measure up the flat roof.
