Raag Bageshri (or Bageshree) is a popular, melodious Hindustani classical raga known for evoking emotions of love, longing (vipralambha shringar), and romantic separation, typically performed in the late night (around 9 PM - 12 AM). It belongs to the Kafi thaat, features flat (komal) Gandhar (Ga) and Nishad (Ni) notes, and often uses a Shadhav-Sampurna (5 ascending, 7 descending) or similar scale, with the sharp fifth (P) avoided in ascent. Its distinctive melodies often use clusters like D n S, m, m P D, m g R S and are popular in film music.
