서서울미술관 국제지명 설계공모_ (주) 건축사사무소 원오원 아키텍스

서서울미술관은 지역 상황의 특수성 (위치, 밀도, 주변 시각환경)을 배려한 공공 문화시설이다.
여의도 서남단, 한강의 지류인 안양천에 인접한 사이트는 고층의 주거시설과 관공서로 둘러싸인 소규모 공원부지에 위치하며, 근린 공공 복합 문화시설로서의 역할과 풍경을 잘 살리는 것이 중요하다.

인근 고층 아파트 주민들의 풍경이 되었고 일상이 녹아있던 공원이므로 공원의 시각적 개방성 확보와 함께 근린시설로서의 교육, 문화, 공공교류를 미술관의 형식으로서 대지에 어떻게 놓을지에 대한 해석이 과제의 핵심이다.

공원이 가지고 있는 표피(groundscape)를 최대한 유지하고 대지의 기존 고저차를 확장하여 이용한 계획을 통해 기존 녹지의 시각적 보존과 가로경관을 유지하고 최소한의 볼륨을 지상에 배치한다.

프로젝트의 성격은 단면에서 명확하게 드러난다.
최소화된 지상층은 지표면에서 떨어져 있어 지상 공원의 시각적 연속성을 확보하며 자연 빛이 유입되고 지상의 공원과 같은 유연한 지형을 갖는 또 하나의 ground인 지하층은 많은 기능을 담을 수 있으며 지상에 드러나는 볼륨의 보이드는 자연 빛의 유입으로 공원과 실내공간에 생동감을 부여한다.

공원을 만드는 방법과 건축을 만드는 형태에서 미래 지향성을 확보하여 지역주민과 다양한 문화와 세대가 만나는 교류의 장을 계획했다.

Seo-Seoul Museum of Art is a public cultural center resulting from careful study into the relationship of the site to its local characteristics (location, density, visual and spatial composition).

Located on a small park adjacent to Anyang-cheon River, a tributary of the Han River and southwest to Yeouido, surrounded by high-rise residentials and public facilities, the placement of the cultural center should integrate as well as expand from the nature of the existing park.

As the park is a part of daily lifestyle and scenery of the local residences, maintaining visual openness while providing an experiential and fluidic public interfacing with the museum’s cultural and educational programs was the focus of the proposal

The proposal iterates the topology(groundscape) of the existing park by extending the ‘lifting’ language of the adjacent park facilities to maintain a horizontal fluidity of greenery and seamless public motion throughout. A minimal volume floating above the ground, a visual locus, balances the horizontality of the park.

Characteristics of the spatial experience of the proposal is best understood sectionally.

Lifting of the ground plane above and below the site brings natural daylight into the lower level. The bright and open lower level becomes another ground plane, an extension/expansion of the existing park, a cultural park. A series of voids penetrating the ground plane as well as the floating volume above visually connect public activities between all three levels.

Navigating the spatial and circulatory relationship of the building programs and the park, the proposal explores fluidic planes on which the public and the local community connect with culture and art for generations to come.
