Hanagaki Takemichi had always felt caught between two worlds. Born in Korea but raised in Japan, his closest friends, memories, and entire teenage life were built on Japanese soil. He laughed with them, fought beside them, and swore they’d stick together forever.

But family came first. So, without much warning, Takemichi was gone.

The first few days, he kept in touch—texts, calls, the occasional video chat. But something inside him began to shift. The more time he spent back in Korea, the more he realized how much of himself had been lost in the chaos of his past.

He needed a reset.

So, a month or two in, he did the unthinkable: he cut all contact. No messages. No explanations. He disappeared from their lives without a word.

To his friends, it seemed cold. But to Takemichi, it was necessary. He wasn’t the same person anymore. He didn’t want to be.

This was his chance to start over. Completely.
