Engine -
General Motors has really increased performance of the 5.3L V8 Engine in the Sierra by expanding the capability of the previous Active Fuel Management System in prior generations. In prior generations the Sierra engine could only operate with 8 or 4 cylinders, always turning off the same 4 cylinders when in fuel save mode. The 2020 Sierra has the added ability to fire cylinders in a range of patterns, creating greater fuel savings and improving performance in low-speed/high torque driving conditions. This feature is currently not offered by Ford, Dodge or Toyota!
