Varkala | Solo Kayaking | Train Ride to Varkala | Bus and Auto Experience | Raw & Real Solo Journey!

I’m sharing my solo trip from Thiruvananthapuram to Varkala on a local train. The ride was full of nature – sea views, coconut trees, and sunshine. Many local workers were also on the train.

After I reached Varkala Railway Station, auto rickshaw drivers asked me for ₹200 to go to Varkala Cliff. I walked a bit and found another auto who agreed for just ₹80. Since I reached 2 hours early, I didn’t get a dorm room, so I used a hotel’s guest washroom and went for kayaking.

It was very hot in Varkala! I walked around the market, saw local food options, rental hotels, and transport like taxis and buses. I found a small kayaking shop. The person there was polite and helpful. It was government-approved, so I trusted it and booked the activity.

Since I was solo, the person helped me use local buses. It was a nice ride with Malayalam songs and beautiful sea on both sides of the road. After changing buses, I reached the kayaking spot. The guide Sreeraj gave me a water bottle, life jacket, and a bag to keep my things. He explained how to kayak safely.

The first few minutes were hard, but I slowly got used to it. The backwater was calm and peaceful. It was a 60-minute activity. I felt relaxed and happy.

After kayaking, the guide offered me coffee and dropped me at the bus stop. I took the same route back. I had lunch at Varsha Bakery – food was okay, but as a vegetarian, there were fewer options. Later, I got a lift to the cliff.
