29 November Sun Scoop Update. Issues with wood "fatigue" ball bearing housings, wind stability good!

The proof of concept Sun Scoop has a wood frame and a wooden seasonal adjustment section. This is not ideal. Especially in winter when the wood soaks up rain water, and the center of gravity drifts away from the axis, a lot more than if the wood was dry. The middle section of the wood frame, with the 2 ball races in it, is now 2 seasons old (first used with the dish reflector from 2024) and the wood has worn a lot around the ball bearings. All this means that the focus is a bit under the axis of rotation (10 to 20 cm under!) and I have to use a heavier counterweight. These problems would be greatly reduced if the framework was made of metal. Ideally light strong aluminum would be used. Alas, I can no longer weld. I am not planning experiments unless we get cold weather with clear skies. It's possible but for the most part it is extremely cloudy and rainy in Victoria in Winter.
