Welcome to Ashwood Hollow, Kentucky — a forgotten Appalachian town where autumn does more than paint the trees red. Here, October isn't a season — it's a warning. For generations, sheriffs kept a journal of disappearances, rules written in blood, and the creature that comes when the barrier between worlds grows thin.
I never believed the stories. Not until the footprints started pointing backward, dead loved ones returned to knock on doors, and seven families were chosen to pay a debt made in 1843. This is my account — four parts, documented from my perspective as Sheriff Hargrove — how we uncovered the truth, made a deal with something older than the coal mines, and how some of us came home… and some didn't.
