We were so excited to get to go on a beehive tour at Girl Next Door Honey in San Diego. We learned so much about bees. It was such a unique experience that you have to experience for yourself. This video doesn't do justice compared to actually being there. This video is pretty long but you can't cut the awesome, unique experiences down in time.
We learned that bees don't like the smell of bananas. The owner says bees are the gateway bug. We also learned that all bees start out the same and depending on what they are fed they become the queen, a worker bee or a drone. So crazy! Queens battle to become the queen so they can lay 2000-3000 eggs a day for their hive. Scout bees are the "special forces" that find the location for a hive and have a dance battle to decide which location they will pick. We even got one of the hives a little agitated that we were looking in their hive and they started swarming and buzzing loudly. There are some pictures at the end of the babies in their cells, honey in the cells and the queen. This video is packed with so many cool things you need to watch the whole video.
