Is there a difference?? Yes, there is. It's really not dramatic though.
BLU TACK : more like fat juicy bass, less air and transparency, less air, more like warmer sound. It's good for neutral or (too) bright / dry sounding hifi / high end audio systems / audio components.
SPIKES : more air, greater detail, tighter and faster bass, cleaner and clearer sound, the sound is faster etc. In general, it's good for warmer or neutral sounding stereo / high-end audio systems / audio equipment.
