On the 8th of October 2016 the Hokushin Ittō-ryū Hyōhō was invited to participate at the ‘Traditional Martial Arts Exhibition for the Reconstruction of Kumamoto’ held at Suizenji Jōjuen of Izumi Shrine after the devastating earthquakes which hit Kumamoto in 2016.

The Hokushin Ittō-ryū Hyōhō was represented by the 7th sōke Ōtsuka Ryūnosuke (who was appointed sōke earlier that year), together with his adoptive father, the retired 6th sōke Ōtsuka Yōichirō.
