In today’s video, I bring you a much-needed update on my Peugeot 106 GTi, including some essential repair work to keep this iconic hot hatch in top running condition.
First up, I tackle an annoying exhaust leak that’s been affecting the sound and performance. After inspecting the system, I apply exhaust assembly paste to reseal the joints and eliminate any unwanted blowing or rattling from the exhaust. This quick fix helps ensure everything is air-tight and ready for the road (or track!).
Next, I move onto the driveshaft, where I noticed a torn CV boot — a common issue on older cars like the 106 GTi. I show the process of removing the driveshaft, cleaning it up, repacking it with fresh CV grease, and installing a new CV boot to protect the joint and prevent future damage. This job is all about preserving drivetrain reliability and extending the life of key components.
If you’re working on a Peugeot 106, Saxo VTS, or any similar PSA car, this video should give you a helpful walkthrough and some tips along the way. It’s also a good look at the kind of ongoing maintenance needed to keep a 20+ year-old hot hatch in good health.
🔧 Jobs covered in this video:
Diagnosing and sealing an exhaust leak
Using exhaust assembly paste for proper sealing
