Abandoned Railway to a Hidden Military Fortress

This exploration begins along the traces of a former railway line, once essential for linking industrial areas and transporting troops and supplies. Decommissioned for several decades, it is slowly disappearing beneath the vegetation. At the end of this forgotten path stands an old fortified strongpoint, built in the early 20th century as part of a vast defensive system. Designed to monitor and control strategic heights, it still bears witness to the military ingenuity of its time, with underground shelters, artillery positions, and remnants of trenches. Now deserted, the site embodies the encounter between industrial heritage and the memory of past conflicts.

Cette exploration débute sur les traces d’une ancienne ligne de chemin de fer, autrefois essentielle pour relier les bassins industriels et permettre le transport de troupes et de matériel. Déclassée depuis plusieurs décennies, elle s’efface peu à peu sous la végétation. Au bout de ce parcours oublié se dresse un ancien point d’appui fortifié, construit au début du XXᵉ siècle dans le cadre d’un vaste système défensif. Conçu pour surveiller et contrôler les hauteurs stratégiques, il témoigne encore de l’ingéniosité militaire de l’époque, entre abris enterrés, positions d’artillerie et restes de tranchées. Aujourd’hui déserté, le site illustre la rencontre entre patrimoine industriel et mémoire des conflits.
