THE DERAWAR CANNON
Relocated from Fort Derawar, in the Cholistan Desert, to Bahawalpur City on 10.09.2015 for display as part of the Heritage of Bahawalpur State with kind permission of the Owners: the Heirs & descendants of the Late Gen. His Highness Al-Haj Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan V Abbasi N.Q.A., G.C.S.I., G.C.I.E., K.C.S.I., K.C.V.O., L.D.. The Ameer of Bahawalpur State.
The Cannon is a late 18th Century field Artillery piece used in the expansion of the territories of Bahawalpur State & placed for the defence of Fort Derawar, the Original Seat of the Former Ruling Abbası family.
The Derawari Cannon was manufactured locally. Built with a brass barrel and cast in Gari lkhtiar Khan, Rahim Yar Khan which was a major Arms Centre at that time that contained large forges during the Rule of Nawab Muhammarl Bahawal Khan Abbasi (1772-1809)
