What is Outsider Art? A term popularized by Roger Cardinal in 1972, Outsider Art is a category of Art that's both intoxicating and elusive—works created beyond the sanctioned corridors of academia, by self-taught artists or those working from the margins of society. Once dismissed as "low brow" and not considered as real art, the 10 artists whose works we'll review today, now hangs in major museums internationally. None of them began with the aim to be artists, but they were, and they remind us that art isn’t just something learned—it’s something lived.
