President Trump said on Monday that he is “very serious” about his desire to acquire Greenland. It is a self-governing country, but it is a territory of Denmark. Trump said he wants to acquire it. He said he needs the island for national security reasons. Several European countries’ leaders, including the UK, Italy, France, Poland, Spain, and others, issued a joint statement pushing back on this. They warned that if Trump actually uses military action against Greenland, it means the end of NATO.
