WRC driver Hayden Paddon has debuted his EV Rally Car project at the Waimate 50 HillClimb in incredibly successful fashion, using the Triple Motor Electric Monster to win the event outright.
Fully bespoke and built by Paddon´s own Team (Paddon RallySport), this Hyundai Kona EV Rally Car was raced here in HillClimb-trim, using all electric motors it can, going for ultimate power and (instant) torque. At over 700Hp, even the quite high kerbweight(over 1500Kg) was not an issue and the tremendous traction available at all Four Wheels certainly helped.
Among all the unique features this machine has, one of the most curious is its ‘prototype mechanical sound device`, making this the first EV Race Car with a sound of its own and avoiding the use of a siren, as it as been common on EV Racers at Rally and Hillclimb events so far.
