If you love real construction updates, mountain living, and seeing a simple dream turn into a real home in the Philippines, today’s episode will keep you watching all the way through.
This week, everything changed again on the mountain. What started as a tiny house—originally just a guard house, then a storage shed—has officially turned into a full-blown expansion project. We doubled the size of the home, tore down some walls we just built, and committed to creating one giant Arizona Room with custom window installation, panoramic views, and a layout that finally makes sense for real mountain living. The roof is on, the fascia is mostly finished, and we cemented the entire floor before laying down hardwood-look ceramic tile that actually transformed the feel of the space.
We also had another round of dump truck deliveries bringing construction materials, gravel, sand, cement, and roofing supplies up the mountain. The kids were outside all day with their toy dump trucks and excavators playing in the sand piles while the crew worked on the foundation for the dirty kitchen. It felt like a mini construction site—big trucks, kids’ trucks, and the real Bongo truck all in one frame. We’re also adding new screen doors, the latest window frames, and upgraded insulation to help with airflow and rain protection.
Inside the main house, furniture was delivered, kitchen cabinetry was mounted, and the custom handmade mahogany closet was installed by Chrissy’s stepfather. The combination of new appliances, solid wood furniture, and the ongoing window installation is finally beginning to make the whole space feel like a real home instead of a job site. Between the new lighting, the improved airflow, and the open-concept design coming together, the house is changing fast.
The puppies are getting bigger too. We loaded them into the back of the truck and drove them down to a vet in Uptown CDO for their first real checkup and deworming. They handled the ride like champs, even on the rough road. They’ve become part of the story out here—running around the job site, playing in the dirt, and basically being the mountain security team in training.
If you’re new to the channel, this is a real-time look at building, renovating, and trying to create a peaceful lifestyle in a rural housing subdivision in the Philippines. We talk about construction costs, windows, roofing supplies, appliances, furniture, tile selection, structural upgrades, contractor issues, insulation, water systems, truck deliveries, and all the things nobody tells you when you start building in the provinces or anywhere outside a major city. It’s a constant learning curve, but it’s also one of the most rewarding projects we’ve ever taken on.
