November 13, 2013. Hawaiian musicians Amy Hanaiali'i and Willie K reunited for a performance together for the first time in 10 years. They were celebrating the historic signing of the Hawaii Marriage Equality bill SB1 HD1 into law. It made Hawaii the 15th state to allow gay couples to legally wed.
At the Hawaii Convention Center's Liliu Theater, Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed the measure front of a crowd of about 200 invited guests and state lawmakers. Sen. Clayton Hee introduced them. "We're kinda out of practice," Willie K. joked. At the ceremony, they sang an emotional mashup of "Imagine" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Wait for that classic Willie humor at the very end... we miss you Willie! RIP 💗
